Classes for now are only open to local Modesto, CA participants who would like to learn, buy small quantity supplies and have their project fired in a kiln.
Cost $25 per project
$3.00 per lb of clay (Amount needed for one project).
$6 per project kiln fee.
$6 flat rate for glaze. This covers as many colors as you need for one project.
$10 teaching fee
General Supply List:
-Towel (rag will get very dirty)
-Washcloth or paper towels
-Flat surface to work on (will get very dirty)
-Flat surface to store project on, large enough for project, small enough to fit in a grocery bag. (Can use small wood planks, ceramic tiles, small cutting boards etc..)
-Paint brush (small)
-Needle tool (can use safety pin/ sewing pins)
-Twisty ties (to keep bag closed)
-Carving tool (can use skewers, tooth pics, chop sticks)
-2 Bags to keep project in (grocery bag or produce bag)

See General Supply list + Underglaze colors at top of page. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PURCHASE CERAMIC TOOLS. All items can be replaced with house hold items. But it if you are looking to do ceramics more often then the tools are helpful.

Class 4: Ceramic Plates- Slab Project
See General Supply list + Underglaze colors at top of page. These are some replacement ideas if you do not have items on list… Rolling pin or use a bottle, Knife tool or a steak knife, Carving tool or dull pencil, Smoothing rib or just use your fingers or sponge. A smoothing rib is the kidney shaped tool that is flat on one edge. If you don’t have a plate, bowl or plaque to use as a mold you can alway cut what ever shape you want and curl up the sides. The Dollar Store has a section of wood plaques, you can use any shape you would like. Joann’s also has a section of wood plaques of different shapes and sizes.
